 HACKENSACK, NJ (PIX11)—  He's being held on $2.5 million bail, was walked into court in shackles and an orange prison jumpsuit, and is generally being treated as a domestic terrorist. But the reasons why accused synagogue bombing mastermind Aakash Dalal says he's innocent may raise eyebrows.
Prosecutors describe Dalal, 19, as the terrorism teacher of the firebomber of at least two North Jersey synagogues. Dalal did not speak at court, but his attorney, Chris DiLorenzo, entered a not guilty plea to the charges of conspiracy, aggravated arson, bias intimidation and criminal mischief. The details surrounding that plea might, by some, be considered remarkable.

Dalal exchanged emails and texts with Anthony Graziano, also 19, according to prosecutors. They charged Graziano with nine counts of attempted murder and aggravated arson, bias intimidation and arson for throwing Molotov cocktails into two North Jersey synagogues, including Congregation Beth El in Rutherford, which also houses the congregation's rabbi and his family. One of the firebombs landed in the rabbi's bedroom. He and his family were able to escape.

In connection with that January 11th firebombing, and another at a synagogue in Paramus, detectives say they've found messages to Graziano from Dalal, ranging from instructions on making a firebomb, to enjoying media coverage of the hate attacks, and even criticizing Graziano for not bombing thoroughly enough. Dalal's lawyer admits that communication relating to the bombing incidents may have occurred between the two, who have been friends since they were children in Lodi, New Jersey.
However, attorney Chris DiLorenzo said after Dalal's first court appearance Monday morning, "Malicious words are not criminal acts. How the words came out and what effect they had, may or may not be a criminal act, but from everything I've seen there's nothing that's a criminal act."
The lawyer also acknowledged that Dalal may have been present when anti-Semitic, white supremacist graffiti was scrawled on synagogues in Hackensack and Maywood, New Jersey weeks before the bombings. Still, the attorney said that does not constitute criminality.
"Mere presence at the scene of a crime is not a crime," DiLorenzo said. "You have to be present in a way to assist the crime to occur." He told PIX11 News that even if Dalal was on scene when synagogues were desecrated, it did not necessarily make him an accomplice.

DiLorenzo also said that Dalal shouldn't be considered an accessory to the synagogue bombings because the Rutgers student was on leave from college, out of state, when they took place in early January.

"He was in New Hampshire involved in a campaign," DiLorenzo said about Dalal. When asked if it was the Ron Paul campaign, DiLorenzo said, "That's my understanding."

Both Dalal and DiLorenzo are now in the same place, the Bergen County Jail, where they will remain until their separate trials are completed, or until they post bail. Both have bail amounts of $2.5 million, but DiLorenzo said he anticipates a bail hearing in the next two weeks that may get Dalal's bail reduced. It is likely to take over a year before either of the two suspect's trials are completed.

Both have gone online in the past to declare their support of Ron Paul for president. The Ron Paul campaign did not return phone calls from PIX11 News seeking comment.

ISLAMABAD: Israel has exported military equipment, including hi-tech gear used in combat jets over the past five years to Pakistan and Arab countries with which it has no diplomatic relations, according to a media report on Tuesday.

The report released by Britain's Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, which deals with British government permits for arms and security equipment exports, said besides Pakistan, Israel has exported military equipment to Egypt, Algeria, the United Arab Emirates and Morocco.

In 2011, Israel sought to purchase British components to export various systems to Pakistan, including radar systems, electronic warfare systems, head-up cockpit displays (HUDs), parts for fighter jets and aircraft engines, optic target acquisition systems, components of training aircraft, and military electronic systems.

In 2010, Israel applied for permits to export electronic warfare systems and HUDs with British components to Pakistan, the Haaretz newspaper quoted the British government report as saying.

The report did not mention what the components would be used for though experts said they believed most of them were meant for use in the JF-17 Thunder jetsdeveloped jointly by Pakistan and China.

Britain's Department for Business, Innovation and Skills oversees security exports and publishes regular reports on permits granted or denied to purchase arms, military equipment or civilian items that are monitored because they can be put to security uses.

From January 2008 to December 2012, British authorities processed hundreds of Israeli applications to purchase military items containing British components for use by the Israeli Defense Forces, or to go into systems exported to third countries.

Community activist alleges US hypocrisy

Immediately after US Congressman Steny Hoyer had completed his remarks, community firebrand Dave Makkar from New Jersey sprang to his feet and shouted at Hoyer, accusing the US of utter “hypocrisy” while claiming to be India ’s friend and ally.

Makkar said even as the US declares its strategic partnership with India , it continues to provide Pakistan with massive military largesse, which Islamabad uses against India , and cross-border terrorism against India continues unabated. Makkar also alleged that the arms and technology Washington transfers to Israel is in turn supplied by Tel Aviv to China , another adversary of India which continues to arm Pakistan and condones its terrorist activities against New Delhi .

The embarrassed organizers subdued Makkar and convinced him to sit down and be quiet and not engage in a debate.

A peeved Hoyer, who had earlier told Makkar that if he wanted “to make a speech to take it some place else,” declares to applause: “I don’t claim to be a friend of India -I am a friend of India .”

“I do not claim that America has simplistic answers to all the questions you raised,” Hoyer said. “One of the issues on terrorism as all of us know is western Pakistan , which is giving sanctuary to terrorists. It is in the best interest of America and all other people to try to defeat that area of terrorism and therefore it is a complicated question to pursue in terms of an alliance with people who are from time to time, not so focused as I would like them to be trying to take that out for their own purposes because they feel threatened.”

On the Israel issue, he said, “Israel’s integrity and independence is of critical concern to the United States of America . It is surrounded by enemies that have sworn to see its demise – period…. That is why United States transfers arms and technology (to Israel ), as we do to many other countries who are trying to defend their own freedom.   I wish I had a simple answer… I said (in his keynote) that India and the United States had not always had a close relationship. I am sure you recall why…"When we were confronting Soviet communism, we did not feel that we got the strong support that we should have gotten from another democracyin our international community. That was the concern to us.   That is now not the case; Soviet Union for one thing has disappeared. The second thing to say that we don’t always see eye to eye on some United Nations resolutions very frankly, which I think seem to confront terrorism as apposed to rationalise terrorism."

Washington D.C. (TIP): There were some fireworks at the NFIA Congressional Luncheon 2010. As always, the fiery Dave Makkar from New Jersey created ripples in the otherwise calm waters at the NFIA Congressional Luncheon 2010, Tuesday May 18, Majority Leader, House of Representative Steny Hoyer may not have expected the kind of salvo which struck him right in the face, to the embarrassment and nervousness of the organizers.

What Dave said amounted to an indictment of the Congressman. Dave accused Hoyer of indulging in doublespeak. He accused Hoyer of blindly supporting Israel that made American technology available to China. He said China benefited from reverse-engineering American Technology provided to Israel.

Hoyer was shocked and nervous. And not to lose steam Dave accused the Congressman of not providing enough support to India, not withstanding his affirmations of friendship withIndia.

The Congressman seemed to be upset and came out with his true feelings. He countered that when USA was in a bitter cold war with Russia, India did not support America.

Well the conclusions can be drawn.

James Woolsey in a written testimony to US Senate: "We believe the Chinese seek from Israel advanced military technologies that the U.S. and Western firms are unwilling to provide," Woolsey also informed the Senate that Israel has been selling military technology to China for over a decade, and that the sales may amount to "several billion dollars."

Israeli Defense Ministry Director David Ivry: Israel has been selling arms to China but refused to describe the arms sold or their value.

Early in 1992, Robert Gates now Defense Secretary, then director of the CIA, charged that China had illegally obtained ballistic missile secrets from the American-made ''Patriot" ground-to-air missile system, which figured prominently in defending both Israel and Saudi Arabia during the Gulf war. While Patriot missiles deployed to Saudi Arabia had U.S. crews, however, some of the Patriots in Israel were manned by Israeli crews. Gates said Israel was suspected of supplyingChina with these secrets, thereby making public suspicions that had circulated within the Pentagon since allegations of technology theft against Israel were formally raised immediately after the end of the Gulf war.


Not long after the Patriot brouhaha subsided, Israel again was denying charges that it illegally exported U.S. technology to the communist regime in Beijing. This time, the suspicions revolved around the ill-fated Lavi fighter. Israel spent more than $1 billion in U.S. aid on the aircraft, which was based on the U.S. F-16 Falcon.After Israel ditched the program at Washington´s insistence, intelligence reports said Tel Aviv was selling the F-16 avionics technology to China for incorporation into that country´s new F-10 ground-attack fighter.

The Cox report confirmed the suspicion in 1999, stating, "Significant transfers of U.S. military technology have also taken place in the mid-1990s through the re-export by Israel of advanced technology transferred to it by the United States, including avionics and missile guidance useful for the PLA´s F-10 fighter."

A federal grand jury in Honolulu indicted JEW Noshir Gowadia for allegedly sending military secrets to China, Germany, Israel and Switzerland.

South Africa acknowledged that, in the late 1970s, it created six nuclear bombs with the technical assistance of Israel. That is besides the point in April China & Pakistan signed an agreement for two 300 MW’s reactors to be financed and constructed by Chinese companies. There are no stringent conditions attached to this deal like in case of India. Pakistan will not open its facilities for IAEA inspections or has agreed to similar safe guard imposed on India.
